Fire Controlman 3rd Class Shane Nichlos (far) and Fire Controlman 3rd Class Tan Ngo (near), both assigned to the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2), guide a Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) in to its launcher. Essex, commanded by Capt. Troy Hart, is the lead ship of the only forward-deployed expeditionary strike group and serves as the flagship for CTF 76, the Navy's only forward-deployed amphibious force commander.
