A U.S. Army soldier in full combat gear, including ACU (Army Combat Uniform) and helmet, stands facing a crowd of local civilians, predominantly children and young adults. The soldier is holding a rifle and appears to be on patrol or conducting a community interaction in what appears to be a Middle Eastern setting. A Soldier of the 1st Regiment 17th Infantry Division, provides gate security during a free medical screening was held for the local populace of Mawali by Iraqi doctors and U.S. Forces. The screening brought much needed medical supplies and assistance to the people of Mawali. The deteriorated conditions of the roads, due to the rainy season, that lead in and out of town are impassible by civilian vehicles. That caused the local doctor, Taha Ahamed, to reach out and ask for assistance from U.S. Forces. Photo by Army Spc. L.C. Campbell, Photojournalist, 138 Mobile Public Affairs Detachment.
