Noah Evile, a sophomore at Mililani High School, instructs Operations Specialist 2nd Class Jerome Williams and Gunner's Mate 1st Class Jennifer Dickson from USS Cape St. George (CG 71) in piloting the Mililani team's robot during a robotics competition that included Sailors piloting robots designed and built by students. The competition, sponsored by the U.S. Pacific Fleet and the Office of Naval Research, gave the students a chance to meet Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercise 2014 participants and learn about the Navy while building proficiency in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) skills. The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity that helps participants foster and sustain the cooperative relationships that are critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans. Twenty-two nations, more than 49 ships, six submarines, more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC.
