Chief Machinist's Mate Chance Davis from the USS Cape St. George (CG 71) shows his love of robots during a robotics competition, sponsored by the U.S. Pacific Fleet and the Office of Naval Research, included Sailors piloting robots built by the students from local Hawaii high schools. The competition gave the students a chance to meet Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercise 2014 participants and learn about the Navy while building proficiency in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) skills. The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity that helps participants foster and sustain the cooperative relationships that are critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans. Twenty-two nations, more than 40 ships, six submarines, more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC.
