Jennifer Loui, a junior from Pearl City High School, instructs Electronics Technician 3rd Class Thomson Butcher, stationed onboard the USCGC Waesche (WMSL 75), in operating the Pearl City team's entry in the robotics competition. The competition, sponsored by the U.S. Pacific Fleet and the Office of Naval Research, gave students a chance to meet Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercise 2014 participants and learn about the Navy while building skill proficiencies in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity that helps participants foster and sustain the cooperative relationships that are critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans. Twenty-two nations, more than 49 ships, six submarines, more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC.
