Two military personnel in Army Combat Uniforms (ACU) and red life vests are operating a gray inflatable rubber boat (IRB) at a marina. They appear to be deploying or managing a yellow inflatable oil containment boom in the water alongside their vessel. The setting is a civilian marina with multiple white recreational boats visible in the background.

Soldiers of the 824th Transportation Company (Heavy Watercraft) quickly responded to an explosion of a 28-foot fishing boat that occurred at the civilian side of the North Carolina State Port in Morehead City on April 3. They assisted in first aid and damage control until civilian authorities arrived. Here a spillage response boom is secured to prevent further contamination of the water by fuel and other possible hazardous material. The explosion occurred just prior to a ribbon cutting ceremony that was to celebrate the rebuilding of their pier that had been destroyed during Hurricane Irene. Pictured here are Staff Sgt. Bryan Hanlon, left, and Warrant Officer Candidate Robert Wallace.
