A large U.S. Navy amphibious assault ship is docked at a pier in what appears to be New York City, identifiable by the Manhattan skyline visible in the background. The vessel is decorated with colorful signal flags strung from bow to mast, suggesting a ceremonial event such as Fleet Week. The ship displays the hull number '7' on its side and features a prominent flight deck, island superstructure, and various weapons and sensor systems.

The amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) sits moored at Pier 88 in Manhattan during Fleet Week New York 2009. Approximately 3,000 Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen will participate in the 22nd commemoration of Fleet Week New York City 2009. This event will provide the citizens of New York City and the surrounding tri-state area an opportunity to meet service members and also see the latest capabilities of today's maritime services.
