Southern Accord is a U.S. Africa Command-sponsored, U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa-led combined, bi-annual joint exercise that brings together U.S. Army personnel with counterparts from the Botswana Defence Force to conduct humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations, peacekeeping operations, aeromedical evacuation, while enhancing multinational military capabilities and interoperability.
Zambian and U.S. soldiers stood together in a battalion formation as both nations’ national anthems were played to signal the beginning of Southern Accord 2015, held in Lusaka, Zambia, Aug. 3-14.
