Northern Viking 24 (NV24) is a U.S. European Command-directed and U.S. Naval Forces Europe-led joint and coalition live exercise held Aug. 26 – Sept. 3, 2024.

NV 24 strengthens interoperability among NATO Allies for a variety of contingency operations including a response to a humanitarian crisis caused by a volcanic eruption. It also ensures readiness between the U.S., Iceland and Allied nations to execute multi-domain command and control of joint and coalition forces in the defense of Iceland and the Sea Lines of Communication in the GIUK gap.
U.S. Sixth Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with Allies, in order to advance security and stability in Europe and Africa. show less
