TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Team Tyndall celebrated the grand opening of the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Outdoor Recreation & Marina Complex with a ribbon-cutting ceremony here, Oct. 24, 2025.

Constructed under the supervision of the 325th Civil Engineer Squadron as part of [Tyndall's ongoing rebuild efforts](https://www.tyndall.af.mil/News/Rebuild/), the new facility aims to enhance recreational opportunities for Airmen and their families.

The two-level complex features a variety of amenities designed to connect Airmen and their families with the outdoors. The lower level provides open-air storage, while the second floor houses the Outdoor Recreation Center's sales and rentals, multi-purpose activity spaces, a restaurant and bar, offices, and training areas.

“Our mission at the Tyndall Outdoor Recreation and Marina Complex is to connect our Airmen and their families to the outdoors, providing avenues for adventure, relaxation, and personal growth,” said U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Dominique Zhong, 325th Force Support Squadron commander. “Through diverse recreational programs and access to the Gulf Coast’s natural resources, we aim to build resilience, enhance morale, and foster a sense of community, supporting the readiness and well-being of the Tyndall AFB population."

The marina also includes a 4,140 square-foot covered shelter, 114 parking spaces for vehicles, 19 for boat trailers, a marine fuel tank, and a 90,000-gallon fire water storage tank.

“It’s an amazing facility and it’s going to be able to connect our Airmen to all that Florida has to offer,” said Col. Christian Bergtholdt, 325th Fighter Wing commander during the ceremony. “It’s a great day and this is an exciting event for Tyndall … it’s going to be a huge morale boost.”

The opening of the MWR Outdoor Recreation & Marina Complex provides diverse outdoor opportunities and aims to enable a sense of camaraderie and support within Team Tyndall.
