The 51st Fighter Wing held a Resiliency Tactical Pause at Osan Air Base, Sept. 26, 2025, giving service members the opportunity to step away from daily operations to focus on the strength of the people who carry out the mission every day.
First implemented in 2019, the Resiliency Tactical Pause was designed to build trust, sharpen mental toughness, and strengthen the bonds that unite Airmen across the force. The initiative highlights that resilience is about staying focused, adapting under pressure, and rising stronger in the face of challenges.
At Osan Air Base, where the wing maintains a “Fight Tonight” posture just miles from the Demilitarized Zone, the connection between resilience and readiness is especially clear. In a high-tempo environment, the ability to recover from stress, adapt under pressure, and lead with authenticity is essential to mission success.
“These events are about equipping leaders and members with real-world strategies to strengthen their teams through camaraderie and well-being within their ranks,” said Ms. Maria Chapa, Integrated Prevention and Response Office chief and Osan Suicide Prevention Program manager.
Throughout the day, Airmen engaged in tailored activities based on their unit’s needs. Some attended small-group sessions led by trained facilitators. Others participated in physical wellness events, team-building exercises, or guided discussions led by chaplains, mental health professionals, or leadership teams.
As the Air Force continues to prioritize resilience, Team Osan stands ready to help shape a force that is not only trained and equipped, but also emotionally and mentally prepared to meet the challenges of service.
“When we build awareness and foster open conversations, we create a culture where resilience and readiness thrive,” Chapa said.
