YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan – Yokota leadership recognized 66 Airmen who were promoted to technical sergeant during a release party at the Taiyo Community Center at Yokota Air Base, Japan, July 31, 2023. More than 5,300 staff sergeants were selected for promotion out of 36,913 eligible applicants in the 2023 promotion cycle.
Technical sergeant is the second rank in the Air Force’s noncommissioned officer tier. According to the Air Force publication “The Enlisted Force Structure,” technical sergeants are charged with continuing their development in becoming leaders and role models for all Airmen as well as furthering their military education.
