U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, South Pacific Division

Lt. Col. Jeffrey M. Beeman assumed command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers South Pacific Border District during a change of command ceremony in Phoenix June 10.

Beeman replaced Col. Antoinette R. Gant as the fourth commander of the District, assuming responsibility for territory stretching through four states along the southern border.

Brig. Gen. Paul E. Owen, the South Pacific Division commander, served as presiding officer for the ceremony.

“Jeff brings extensive training and real experience in our civil, military and emergency response missions, and his expertise, passion and dedication will make him an outstanding fit with this stellar District team.” stated Owen during his keynote address.

The South Pacific Border District is committed to fulfilling its duties and responsibilities as a project-executing agency to help secure the nation’s southern border. Through cooperation and collaboration with the Department of Homeland Security and government and military partners, the District provides technical expertise in contractual and design construction services, project management, and construction management.

“I am both honored and grateful to serve as the commander of this dynamic organization,” Beeman said. “Over the last couple of days, I’ve been overwhelmed at what the South Pacific Border District has accomplished in such a short period of time.”

Beeman, an engineer officer, has more than 17 years of active service, with combat deployment to Iraq. He also deployed to Guam in support of Operation Dauntless Bastion. His academic accomplishments include a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic University, a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Missouri University of Science and Technology, and a Master of Science in Construction Management from the University of Hawaii. He graduated as the Distinguished Honor Graduate of both the Engineer Officer’s Basic and Advanced Courses, and as an Honor Graduate of the Command and General Staff College.

“I’m excited to lead these dedicated professionals here in the South Pacific Border District,” Beeman said. “The SPB District will continue to be an integral part of the USACE mission. We will face the incredible responsibilities and challenges together and write the next chapter of this accomplished District together.”
