    U.S. Army Lt. Col. Droesch, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, inspects the inner workings of heavy machinery at Lucky Peak Dam, Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026. The hands-on visit was part of a comprehensive assessment of the dam's operational readiness and maintenance requirements. During the multiday visit, Lt. Col. Droesch visited with USACE staff and federal partners around the state.
