    The intake structure at Lucky Peak Dam stands in the reservoir, Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026. This tower allows operators to control the release of water for downstream irrigation needs and flood control operations on the Boise River. Each fall, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lowers the water level to create space for winter and spring runoff, a critical process for managing flood risk on the Boise River.
