U.S. Marine Corps Col. Stephen DeTrinis, the commanding officer of Marine Corps Base Hawaii, addresses guests during a Chef of the Year competition at Anderson Chow Hall, MCBH, Sept. 11, 2026. The competition consisted of each Chef of the Quarter winner or runner-up competing against one another in a cook-off and a series of evaluations, including a written test. The judges graded the food based on presentation, taste, and creativity. The winner will receive an opportunity to compete at higher levels across Marine Corps Installations Pacific.
