U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Edison Fredricks, a pilot with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 169, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, prepares for takeoff during forward arming and refueling point training with a Landing Craft Air Cushion with Assault Craft Unit 5, Naval Beach Group 1, Expeditionary Strike Group 3, at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Sept. 9, 2026. This training validated I Marine Expeditionary Force and ACU-5’s ability to rapidly establish an LCAC-supported FARP as well as refine tactics for long-range operations in a contested environment, strengthening Navy-Marine Corps interoperability in support of distributed aviation operations.
