U.S. Air Force Col. Bret Trippel, the 153rd Airlift Wing commander, participates in a moment of silence during a 9/11 remembrance ceremony at the Wyoming Air National Guard Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Sept. 11, 2026. The ceremony marked the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, which killed nearly 3,000 people. With civilian and military aircraft grounded nationwide, the 153rd Airlift Wing became the first unit to resume flying, ferrying blood donations across the western United States.
