A Cinder vertical take-off and landing unmanned aircraft system rises on a rail-based lift mechanism into launch position during a multi-day Special User Demonstration at Orote Airfield on Naval Station Guam, June 22, 2026. The 3d Multi-Domain Effects Battalion, 3d Multi-Domain Task Force, utilized the elevated rail housing to exercise and experiment with Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control concepts required to advance tactical options in highly confined littoral environments for Exercise Valiant Shield 2026.
This staging operation was conducted in support of Valiant Shield 2026. Exercises like Valiant Shield allow Pacific Command Joint Forces the opportunity to integrate forces from all branches of service and with our allies to conduct precise, lethal, and overwhelming multi-axis, multi-domain effects that demonstrate the strength and versatility of the joint force and our commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific.
