A 48-star flag made out of parachutes by American POWs who survived the Bataan Death March flies over the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) during a ceremony to commemorate the 81st anniversary of V-J Day, Aug. 15, 2026. Bataan is currently undergoing regularly scheduled maintenance in the General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) shipyard in Norfolk, Virginia.
