Aerial view of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) New World Screwworm (NWS) Dispersal Facility at Moore Air Base in Edinburg, Texas, on July 2, 2026.
Although eradicated domestically decades ago, NWS remains in parts of South America and has moved northward through Central America and Mexico. It is now in the United States, and this facility plays a critical role in our response.
