Capt. Virginia Damin, director of Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, discusses health care for Marines and their families with Marine Corps Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer aboard the Multi-Service Ward of NHCP on Aug. 11, 2026. Meyer visited the hospital, the 31 Area Branch Health Clinic, and the Intrepid Spirit Center learning about the health care mission aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and met with Sailors to provide words of encouragement, speak to the importance of their mission, and to answer their questions. Meyer earned the Medal of Honor during the Battle of Ganjgal on Sept. 8, 2009, in Afghanistan's Kunar Province.
