Blanchard II, Commanding General (Interim) of the District of Columbia National Guard, and members of Joint Task Force–District of Columbia speak with ABC News about the upcoming one-year anniversary of the Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful mission in Washington, D.C., Aug. 5, 2026. Since its launch on Aug. 11, 2025, the mission has become the largest collaboration between law enforcement and the National Guard in modern history, helping enhance public safety for residents, commuters and visitors across the nation's capital.
