The commander of the Croatian armed forces’ national support element for the 17th Croatian contingent salutes during the Croatian national anthem at an award ceremony held in observance of Croatian Victory Day at the Bemowo Piskie Training Area on Aug. 5, 2026. Teams from the NATO Forward Land Forces (FLF) Battle Group-Poland competed in soccer, volleyball and Army obstacle course competitions from Aug. 2-5. The competition coincided with Croatia’s Victory Day on Aug. 5, which commemorates the Croatian War of Independence. The three-day competition reinforced the interoperability and readiness of the NATO FLF Battle Group along the alliance’s eastern flank, while giving troops an opportunity to enjoy themselves and strengthen esprit de corps.
