A Romanian soldier from the 348th Air Defense Artillery Battalion heads the ball during the soccer portion of the Croatian Victory Day Competition at Bemowo Piskie Training Area, Poland on Aug. 2, 2026. Teams from the NATO Forward Land Forces (FLF) Battle Group-Poland competed in soccer, volleyball and Army obstacle course competitions from Aug. 2-5. The competition coincided with Croatia’s Victory Day on Aug. 5, which commemorates the Croatian War of Independence. The three-day competition reinforced the interoperability and readiness of the NATO FLF Battle Group along the alliance’s eastern flank, while giving troops an opportunity to enjoy themselves and strengthen esprit de corps.
