Utah National Guard leadership; Gov. Spencer Cox, U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Michael Kjar, U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Daniel Boyack, and Command Sgt. Maj. Spencer Nielsen, sing the service anthems, “The Army Goes Rolling Along” and “The Wild Blue Yonder,” following a ceremony where Maj. Gen. Boyack relinquished command of the Utah National Guard to then Col. Kjar at the Roland R. Wright Air National Guard base, August 3, 2026 in Salt Lake City. In addition to assuming command of the Utah National Guard, Kjar was also promoted from colonel to brigadier general. The change of command represented the orderly transfer of authority and responsibility, ensuring continuity of leadership and mission readiness across the Utah National Guard.
