JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii — Lt. Joshua Carson, damage control assistant and a search-and-rescue swimmer assigned to the Arleigh Burke class guided-missile destroyer USS Daniel Inouye (DDG 118), demonstrates how rescue swimmers are lowered into the water, July 30, 2026. Carson and fellow Daniel Inouye Sailors provided a shipboard tour aboard their ship for members of the Navy League of the United States Honolulu Council as part of the Navy Region Hawaii and Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific shipboard tour program. The program is designed to provide local civic, military and school groups the opportunity to visit U.S. Navy ships and learn about the important role they conduct to maintain readiness and ensure national security in the U.S. Pacific Fleet region.
