Super Typhoon Sinlaku, which made landfall April 14, caused widespread damage to the three CMNI islands of Rota, Saipan and Tinian with critical damage to power supply on Saipan and Tinian, while sparing Rota from the same fate. Then Super Typhoon Bavi hit the islands three months later, taking out the power supply on Rota. Currently, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and its contractors, in coordination with the Federal Emergency Management Agency are installing generators at critical facilities such as the health clinic and keeping up with maintenance. Brian Meade, Safety Technician for Temporary Power, Super Typhoon Bavi Recovery (hailing from USACE Jacksonville District) speaks with a contractor about the generator installed on the island of Rota for the health clinic, July 26, 2026.
