Manufacturing Planner and Estimator Jeff Wilson, Machinist Jack Forehand and Digital Data Center Programmer Brett Kinlaw review a computer-generated model of a CH-53K King Stallion heat exchanger bracket before starting the machining process to manufacture the part. A cross-disciplinary team Fleet Readiness Center East recently responded to an urgent fleet request and reduced the manufacturing turnaround for this part from an estimated eight- to 10-week lead time to just over 12 hours, allowing Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 461 (HMH-461) to return an aircraft to mission-capable status and meet operational requirements.
