Storm damage surrounds a camper at Copan Lake in Washington County, Oklahoma, July 5, 2026.

Fourth of July storms brought winds exceeding 90 mph, toppling more than 500 trees around Copan Lake. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District, employees have been working seven days a week to remove fallen trees, clear debris and safely reopen recreation areas as recovery efforts continue. The cleanup effort supports USACE's recreation and natural resources management mission by restoring safe public access for visitors. (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers photo by Justin Barnes)
