NISCEMI, Italy (July 11, 2026) Mayor of Niscemi Massimilliano Conti, Niscemi Civic Museum members, U.S. Navy Capt. Daniel Martins, commanding officer, Naval Air Station (NAS) Sigonella, and Italian authorities cut the ribbon for the grand opening of the “In the Footsteps of the Sicily Campaign” exhibition at the Civic Museum as part of the Operation Husky commemorative events, the Allied invasion of Sicily, in Niscemi. Naval Air Station Sigonella’s strategic location enables U.S. allied, and partner nation forces to deploy and respond as required, ensuring security and stability throughout Europe, Africa and Central Asia.
