    Strategic Weapons Facility Atlantic

    KINGSLAND, Ga. (June 17, 2026) -- Jeff Chaffin, a SWFLANT STEM volunteer, speaks to children during a Storybook STEM event at the Camden County Public Library in Kingsland, Georgia, on June 17. Members of the Strategic Weapons Facility, Atlantic (SWFLANT) STEM Team hosted the event, which began with a reading of "Jo Bright and the Seven Bots" before transitioning to hands-on robotics activities a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) day of the library’s summer learning series. During the demonstration, team members highlighted real-world applications of robotics, comparing household cleaning robots to advanced U.S. Navy technologies, including airborne drones and Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs). SWFLANT is one of two sites responsible for the Navy’s strategic assets. Its mission is to deliver safe, secure and effective sea-based strategic deterrence to Ohio-class ballistic missile submarines.
