Recently, U.S. Army Special Operations Civil Affairs soldiers communicate under fire, practicing battlefield coordination and operational decision-making required to maintain situational awareness and communication lines in a hostile environment during a training certification exercise, or CERTEX. The CERTEX focuses on Tactical Combat Casualty Care, or TCCC, readiness, reacting to small arms fire and ambush scenarios, and preparing soldiers to identify and mitigate civil network vulnerabilities, manage crises, practice civil-military coordination, and demonstrate the ability to build trust, and protect critical infrastructure to support civilian and military resilience in unstable and/or hostile environments.
