Visitors attend the Rededication Ceremony of the Sacred Soil Marker in Section 18 of Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, July 5, 2026. This marker, containing earth from the World War I battlefields, was originally placed at ANC in 1929 but deteriorated and was removed in 1938. Thanks to a multi-organizational effort in honor of America's 250 anniversary, new "sacred soil" was gathered from the same WWI battlefields and placed into a renewed Sacred Soil Marker at ANC.
