U.S. Army Soldiers with the 62nd Engineer Battalion, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border, in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, aid U.S. Border Patrol agents by assisting with the setup of a new weather station in the Big Bend sector, Texas, during Operation Muleskinner Trailblazer III, June 30, 2026. 62nd Engineer Battalion conducted a sling load operation by docking a new weather station on a mountaintop to replace a weather station that was damaged due to a previous storm. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
