Chief Warrant Officer Kelly Cawood, commander of Detachment 1, Company A, 641st Aviation, Oklahoma Army National Guard, speaks to a small audience during a turn-in ceremony for the last C-23 "Sherpa" in the Oklahoma Army National Guard inventory. The ceremony was held at the Army aviation hanger at Will Rogers Air National Guard Base in Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma Army National Guard has operated the C-23 since 1996 and the unit deployed to Iraq three times between 2005 and 2009. The C-23 and its crews have been credited with saving countless Coalition Force lives in Iraq due to their ability to conduct short notice, close-in cargo drops in combat zones.
