Several military personnel in camouflage uniforms are working with a large cargo bundle wrapped in a cargo net in a rocky, arid terrain. The soldiers appear to be rigging or preparing a sling-load bundle, likely for helicopter extraction or delivery. The setting suggests a training exercise or field operation in a desert or high-desert environment.

Utah Army National Guard parachute riggers assigned to 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne), rope and net the fossilized remains of an Ornithomimid dinosaur in preparation for aerial hoisting by a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter in Kane County, Utah, June 13, 2026. This specimen was collected by the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. The fossil will be ground transported to North Carolina for preparation and study before ultimately returning to the Natural History Museum of Utah for display. The Utah National Guard trains on aerial hoist missions to maintain the proficiency needed to operate in areas inaccessible by traditional means. This capability supports search and rescue and disaster response efforts, while also enabling Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) missions that provide essential services to communities and strengthen military readiness. Regular training ensures aircrews and ground personnel remain ready whenever they are called upon. (Utah National Guard photo by Maj. Jeffrey Brenchley)
