NAVAL STATION ROTA, Spain (June 17, 2026) - Family members of U.S. Navy Sailors assigned to Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Oscar Austin (DDG 79) hold welcome home signs during the ship’s return to its homeport of Naval Station (NAVSTA) Rota, Spain, after a four-month deployment, June 17, 2026. Oscar Austin returned from a scheduled deployment in support of U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa strategic objectives and U.S., Allied, and partner interests. As the "Gateway to the Mediterranean," NAVSTA Rota provides U.S. and Allied forces a strategic hub for operations wherever and whenever they are needed. NAVSTA Rota is a force multiplier, capable of promptly deploying and sustaining combat-ready forces through land, air, and sea, supporting warfighters and their families, and fostering the U.S. and Spanish relationship.
