Sergeants First Class and Master Sergeants from Army National Guard, Army Reserve, and active-duty units across the nation complete final evaluations during the 640th Regiment Regional Training Institute’s three-week Maneuver Leader Course (MLC) pilot at Camp Williams, Utah. As part of the Army’s expanded professional military education model, the pilot course increased instruction from 112 to 144 academic hours, challenging senior Noncommissioned Officers to demonstrate advanced critical thinking, mission command understanding, and operational-level leadership. The course is designed to prepare NCOs for increased responsibilities at the company, battalion, and brigade levels as the Army modernizes its leader development system. The Utah National Guard’s 640th Regiment Regional Training Institute remains a premier Noncommissioned Officer Professional Military Education institution, leading Army-wide efforts to develop, test, and refine advanced leader development through innovative training and curriculum modernization.(Utah National Guard photo by Sgt. 1st Class Tim Beery)
