Community members, historic reenactors and ceremony participants gather during a ceremony honoring the 90th Infantry Division June 5, 2026, in Picauville, France. The ceremony paid tribute to the 90th Infantry Division, known as the “Tough ’Ombres,” and its service and sacrifice during the liberation of the region in World War II. More than 600 U.S. service members, including 30 assigned to the 29th Infantry Division, are in Normandy to commemorate the 82nd anniversary of the D-Day landings.
