U.S. Army Maj. Michael Saurondon, assigned to 510th Regional Support Group, delivers a brief to U.S. Air Force Gen. Steven S. Nordhaus, chief of the National Guard Bureau, and U.S. and Latvian representatives, at Military Base Ādaži, Kadaga, Latvia, June 2, 2026. During Nordhaus’ visit to the U.S. European Command area, he met with military leaders, government officials and deployed service members to discuss regional security and ongoing operations. The engagements aimed to help strengthen coordination with NATO Allies, improve interoperability and reinforce V Corps’ mission of deterring aggression along NATO’s eastern flank. V Corps is the U.S. Army's only forward-deployed corps, serving as the senior tactical headquarters for Army forces in Eastern Europe to deter conflict and provide combat-ready forces alongside our NATO Allies.
