Latvian National Armed Forces Lt. Col. Zigmārs Krilovs, commander of 3rd Regional Logistics Command, delivers a brief to U.S. Air Force Gen. Steven S. Nordhaus, chief of the National Guard Bureau, and U.S. and Latvian representatives, at Military Base Ādaži, Kadaga, Latvia, June 2, 2026. Nordhaus and U.S. military representatives visited the U.S. European Command area of responsibility to meet with delegation officials, military leaders and deployed U.S. forces. These visits sought to improve interoperability, strengthen regional deterrence and support V Corps’ commitment to deterring aggression alongside NATO Allies on the eastern flank. V Corps is the U.S. Army's only forward-deployed corps, serving as the senior tactical headquarters for Army forces in Eastern Europe to deter conflict and provide combat-ready forces alongside our NATO Allies. V Corps is operationalizing and expanding the Eastern Flank Deterrence Initiative with Allies, rapidly integrating emerging technologies into training and tactical plans. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt.
