Sgt. Leah Boyce of the Maine National Guard's Counterdrug Task Force provides confidence course instructions to Auburn Middle School students at the Bog Brook Training Site in Gilead on May 21, 2026. More than 30 eighth graders from the middle school participated in outdoor leadership and character-building activities with the Task Force. Through group challenges focused on teamwork, critical thinking, and perseverance, students built confidence, communication skills, and positive decision-making habits while learning about service and accountability. This event highlighted the partnership between Auburn Middle School and the Maine National Guard as part of a broader effort to support youth development and substance abuse prevention through experiential learning.
