Sgt. 1st Class CJ Lasselle of the Maine National Guard's Counterdrug Task Force demonstrates how to swing from one confidence course station to the next. More than 30 Auburn Middle School eighth graders took part in outdoor leadership and character-building activities with the Maine National Guard Counterdrug Task Force at the Bog Brook Training Site in Gilead on May 21, 2026. Through group challenges focused on teamwork, critical thinking, and perseverance, students built confidence, communication skills, and positive decision-making habits while learning about service and accountability. This event highlighted the partnership between Auburn Middle School and the Maine National Guard as part of a broader effort to support youth development and substance abuse prevention through experiential learning.
