U.S. Marines with 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border, pose for a photo while holding a challenge coin in Naco, Ariz., May 25, 2026. Brig. Gen. Maura M. Hennigan, the commanding general of 2nd MLG, presented the challenge coins as a token of appreciation for the Marines’ superior performance supporting barrier reinforcement operations. Hennigan visited the region to meet with and recognize the efforts in support of the southern border operations. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
