U.S. Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Maura M. Hennigan, left, the commanding general of 2nd Marine Logistics Group, presents a challenge coin to Sgt. Logan Matthews, a metal worker with 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd MLG, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border, in Naco, Ariz., May 25, 2026. Hennigan presented the coin as a token of appreciation for Matthews' superior performance supporting barrier reinforcement operations. 2nd MLG leadership visited the region to meet with Marines and recognize their efforts in support of southern border operations. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
