A model of the Bomarc missile undergoes testing in the Propulsion Wind Tunnel 16-foot transonic wind tunnel of what was then known as Arnold Engineering Development Center in 1958. Planning for PWT began in January 1950 when representatives from the aircraft propulsion industry met with the Air Force Research and Development Board on Facilities. The funding program for the facility was issued the following year. Arnold Engineering Development Center is now known as Arnold Engineering Development Complex, headquartered at Arnold Air Force Base, Tenn. (U.S. Air Force photo)
