U.S. Army first lieutenants assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division run a section of the 18.6-mile course during the Norwegian Foot March at Pabradė Training Area, Lithuania, May 26, 2026. The Norges Marsjmerket, established by the Norwegian Armed Forces in 1915, must be completed within a time standard adjusted by age and gender — four hours and 30 minutes for male Soldiers under 35 — and is awarded in bronze on a first completion, silver on the second through fourth, and gold on the fifth. V Corps is the U.S. Army's only forward-deployed corps, serving as the senior tactical headquarters for Army forces in Eastern Europe to deter conflict and provide combat-ready forces alongside our NATO allies. V Corps is operationalizing and expanding the Eastern Flank Deterrence Line with Allies, rapidly integrating emerging technologies into training and tactical plans.
