Jaap Constandse during an interment ceremony at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Korea (UNMCK), May 14, 2026. The ceremony commemorated Constandse’s service during the Korean War and fulfilled his final wish to be laid to rest among fellow veterans who defended the Republic of Korea. CNFK is the U.S. Navy’s representative in the Republic of Korea, sharing leadership and expertise in naval matters to improve institutional and operational effectiveness between the two navies and to strengthen collective security efforts in Korea and the region.
