Greyson Everidge, incoming Platoon Leader for the U.S. Army Military Mounted Battalion, prepares for an interview with local news media before stepping off during Flags In at Arlington National Cemetery, May 21, 2026. Soldiers assigned to the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) conduct the annual Memorial Day tradition by placing more than 260,000 American flags throughout the cemetery to honor fallen service members, veterans, and their families. Following the interview, Everidge joined Soldiers across The Old Guard in moving section by section through the cemetery to ensure every gravesite and columbarium niche was marked before sunrise.
